Swap packet leaving
June 9th, 2008 by Hanna |I finished my knitted gift few days ago so it was time to pack all the goodies and send them to my swap pal. I hope she likes the things inside the box.
What a difference blocking makes!
May 23rd, 2008 by kleewong |I finally got my blocking wires and it looks 100% better. I love it. I think I’ll have to make another!!!! I’m off to Kauai and will get the rest of the goodies there. Aloha!!!!
I’m done!
May 20th, 2008 by kleewong |I’m done, but am still waiting for blocking wires. The company I ordered them from (since Loopy does not carry them) said they would follow the other part of my order in a few days. It’s been five and that the ’s the outer limits of “a few” in my book. I wanted to get it blocked before I leave on vacation. It really makes you appreciate the speedy service Sheri and the Elves offer….
As with anything lace, it looks kind of shriveled until the blocking…the color is perfect!
Second Try
May 14th, 2008 by Sarah |The project I was knitting for my pal just wasn’t turning out like I wanted, so yesterday I cast on a new one. Time to give it another try! No worries for my partner, I’ll get it done and I have a pile of goodies already waiting for you!
Grrrrrrrrr—-lace!
May 5th, 2008 by kleewong |I’m knitting something lacy for my partner and it is driving me bananas! Actually, it is fun, but when I make a mistake, finding it is a bummer. Thank goodness for lifelines (although mot of my knitting buddies say, “Livelines are for sissies!” Mea culpa! I am a sissy! In truth, I love knitting lace. I just can’t gab or let my mind wander!
How’s everyone else coming!!!!!???? Come on, how about some chatter? You’re all quite quiet out there.
Awesome Partners!
April 28th, 2008 by kleewong |I’ve met and exchanged emails with my partners several times and I think this is going to be agreat swap. I’m not EXACTLY sure what I will knit, but will finalize that while in St. Louis at the Loopy Spring Fling. Anyone else going????????
Back from the Fling - my knitted item has been delivered!
April 28th, 2008 by kyrana |Please don’t feel bad if you haven’t started your knitted item yet - I have no kids, no husband (or boyfriend), and I work from home. You probably have a life - I don’t!
I met my swap partner, MicheleinMaine, at the Loopy Spring Fling in St. Louis this weekend. I had told her ahead of time that I was going to molest her feet as I had finished one of her socks and wanted to see if it fit. I was planning to blindfold her and try it on. Well, sportsfans, I managed to finish both socks before the Fling, so I made her cover her eyes and dressed her feet on Saturday night. The socks looked like they fit (and she told me they felt great), so I let her uncover her eyes. Like I was going to miss her reaction?!
I’ve got a pretty nice stockpile of goodies here for her, and those won’t be sent out until closer to the deadline so that she has something to look forward to. Who knows … by that time I may have a second pair of socks finished!
Enhancing the experience…..
April 28th, 2008 by kleewong |Okay, okay–I know we’re all busy, but chatting REALLY does enhance the whole swapping experience. So….shall we TALK?????..
I just got back from the Loopy Spring Fling and all I can say is WOW!!!! Sheri does it RIGHT! From Wendy to Cookie A to Claudia (the Wollmeise) it was divine. I got my yarn for my swap project (it’s ambitious for me) and will be knitting as fast as my wee hands will allow. We even got patterns specifically designed for the swap from Wendy and Cookie and a skein of Wollmeise dyed for us. If you have the opportunity next year, it is certainly a worthwhile experience. I didn’t meet too many participating in the swap–maybe I just didn’t ask the right Flingers. Who else went?????
Now–I’ve got to go skein (Is that a verb???? Could it be????) my yarn for rainydaze!
Don’t forget the pictures!
April 21st, 2008 by TheSheepGeek |I’m just checking in to make sure that everyone has heard from everyone they have heard from.
Also! I’d like to remind everyone that if you make a post to this blog, or to the Ravelry thread, you will be entered into a drawing for a Fabulous Prize. (Ok, it’s yarn.) Also, if you make a post with a picture, you will be entered into another drawing for Another Fabulous Prize. (Ok, this one is yarn, too.). You get only one entry for the text-only drawing. However, the more pictures you post, the more entries you get in the Another Fabulous Prize drawing, with a cap on three entries.
If you need help posting a picture anonymously, so that your Pal doesn’t know what you’re making for them, let me know.
Idea of pictures to post include: Pictures of the yarn you have settled on, pictures of your project in progress, pictures of goodies you are considering for your pal…. I’m sure there are other things you can take pictures of and post. But, dude. This blog needs pictures.
