Hi, newbie here
April 11th, 2008 | by raspberry |A very very newbie. This is my first swap ever, not just my first Loopy Ewe Swap. I plan to do my best to be a good newbie and do it right. Any tips on how to do that will be gratefully appreciated. I hope this isn’t too much info but here goes:
I live in the SF Bay Area in California and have too many hobbies. Knitting, of course, and spinning being two that I feed at the Loopy Ewe. I also weave, make beaded and wire-work jewelry (and stitch markers), do ribbonwork, and sew. Because I have so many interests none of them gets served as much as I’d like but I’ve found I can think of the projects I want to accomplish as elements in a retirement portfolio and not get quite as twitchy about not being able to do them right now, like I’d like to. My mind is similarly fractured outside the hobby area. I am in the process of working out what I want my third career to be and have wide interests in general. If one could be a professional student I would be soooo there. I also enjoy cooking. More the regular meal to slightly fancy rather than full on fancy cuisine but I would like to get more into baking. Except for the resulting effect on my waistline.
My husband is awesomely supportive of my yarn habit and knitting obsessions. And of all my different interests although I’m pretty sure he’s glad I’m collecting yarn/fiber more than fabric these days since for the volume the yarn/fiber is lighter so he’s less often called upon to move heavy boxes of supplies. My 9 year old daughter has taken up knitting lately and seems to be having fun with it although her UFO pile is starting to get as big as mine. We have a golden retriever who’s like a second child almost and when she gets a bit further out of her puppy phase (she’s 18 months right now) we’ll probably be adding a second golden to the household.
