Now to knit

April 21st, 2008 by Sarah |

I’ve talked to both of my partners several times already- they are awesome. As soon as I found out who my partner was I started shopping. I have the yarn, all the goodies have arrived but two, I even have the pattern picked out. I hope she’ll like it! I just hope I have the right size needles to get gauge for my project…

Howdy!

Hi, I’m Lynda from Oklahoma. I joined the second swap because my experience in the first swap was wonderful. The package I received from Donna was a-maze-ing. It was truly overflowing with the most wonderful goodies and made me feel so special. It also gave me great ideas for how to spoil my downstream partner, Kym. I don’t know how to post a picture, so I haven’t tried yet. We will see if this works.

There are some items such as gummy bears which mysteriously did not make it into the picture. Also, my son informed me that the Godiva Chocolates were good. That was before I hid the rest from him.

I’ve got my yarn and I’m ready to start knitting for my new partner, Meg.

Hello Everyone

I’m a new knitter, started Jan. of this year. And this is my first knit swap. I’m also a crocheter and have done a few crochet swaps. I can’t wait to get to know both my up and down stream pals.

I’m new, too

Hello all, this is my first time as a Loopy swapper. I love Shari’s shop and love the opportunity to do more shopping. I have been in touch with both of my partners and received yarn today for my project.

Updates!

As I’m sure everyone has noticed, partner assignments have gone out!

You should have heard from your “upstream” partner by now. If you haven’t heard from them, please let me know so that I can poke them with a pointy stick.

Also, because of the delay in getting out the partner assignments, the deadline for mailing your package has been extended to June 22nd.

As always, if you have questions, you should ask them.

I’m new too!

This is my first Loopy Ewe Swap. I joined because I had ordered from them before and was very impressed by their stock and the wide variety of different companies who they represent.

Now that I’ve joined, I am a bit terrified. I’m somebody who could knit just about anything back in the 1970’s and 1980’s. The demands of my job took me away from knitting for quite a while. When I see the pictures of other people’s finished projects on Ravelry I sometimes just gasp with admiration. I don’t do nearly as well. In my first pair of socks I inadvertently put have done a yarn over because there’s a little hole to mock me! I’ve befriended the little hole–we are like secret pals because I know that nobody else will ever look at these socks quite that closely. To make something for a pal who is much more proficient than I am–well, that’s daunting. But what would life be without a challenge?

Take care, everyone!

Hi, newbie here

April 11th, 2008 by raspberry |

A very very newbie. This is my first swap ever, not just my first Loopy Ewe Swap. I plan to do my best to be a good newbie and do it right. Any tips on how to do that will be gratefully appreciated. I hope this isn’t too much info but here goes:

I live in the SF Bay Area in California and have too many hobbies. Knitting, of course, and spinning being two that I feed at the Loopy Ewe. I also weave, make beaded and wire-work jewelry (and stitch markers), do ribbonwork, and sew. Because I have so many interests none of them gets served as much as I’d like but I’ve found I can think of the projects I want to accomplish as elements in a retirement portfolio and not get quite as twitchy about not being able to do them right now, like I’d like to. My mind is similarly fractured outside the hobby area. I am in the process of working out what I want my third career to be and have wide interests in general. If one could be a professional student I would be soooo there. I also enjoy cooking. More the regular meal to slightly fancy rather than full on fancy cuisine but I would like to get more into baking. Except for the resulting effect on my waistline.

My husband is awesomely supportive of my yarn habit and knitting obsessions. And of all my different interests although I’m pretty sure he’s glad I’m collecting yarn/fiber more than fabric these days since for the volume the yarn/fiber is lighter so he’s less often called upon to move heavy boxes of supplies. My 9 year old daughter has taken up knitting lately and seems to be having fun with it although her UFO pile is starting to get as big as mine. We have a golden retriever who’s like a second child almost and when she gets a bit further out of her puppy phase (she’s 18 months right now) we’ll probably be adding a second golden to the household.

Introduction

This is my first time participating in the swap and I am very excited! I am a high school teacher living with my husband in Niagara (mmm, wine country). I’ve been knitting for about 2 years; socks for almost a year. My favourite yarn to knit with is Handmaiden Casbah - so soft!

First timer in Loopy Ewe Swap

April 11th, 2008 by Hanna |

I’m Hanna from Helsinki, Finland and I’m participating this swap first time. I have been in many swaps earlier but not in this one. I learned to knit while I was about eight or nine years old I started knitting as a hobby couple years ago and nowadays I knit mostly socks. I’m also learning to spin but I do not crochet at all. I live with my cat and I work as a specialist in a laboratory to have some money to buy more yarn.

I hope we all have great time with this swap.

Hello

April 11th, 2008 by luvs2knit |

This is my first Loopy Ewe swap. I missed out on the first one because we were in the middle of a military move. I just didn’t have the time to dedicate to a swap. We’re all settled in now and I can’t wait for this swap to begin.

Hubby is in the Air Force and we’re stationed in Great Falls, MT. I’m a stay at home mom to my two wonderful girls. My oldest is 7 years old and my youngest will be 2 in July. I also have two four legged fur babies, Shadow my Cocker Spaniel and Zeus my Toy Poodle.

I’m a rabid knitter. I love to try new patterns and I’m always knitting socks. I love to make things for my girls. It’s a good thing my oldest loves everything I make her. She’s always asking me to make her something.
