An Introduction!

April 11th, 2008 by ceylangul |

Hey everyone! I’m Ceylan (pronounced Jaylon), I live in Dallas, TX, and have been knitting since December 2006. I’m currently single and have two beautiful kitties, Mia and Jacks. I travel a lot for work so socks are the perfect travel project! I wanted to knit my first pair because I fell in love with all that gorgeous indie-dyed sock yarn out there, and finally knocked out my first pair in February of this year. I have very quickly accumulated a HUGE sock yarn stash, but I’m always looking for more! This is my first knitting-related swap ever and I’m very excited. :-)

Update! Swap Partner emails have been sent…again.

April 10th, 2008 by KnottyDaisy |

I have just resent the swap emails after a glitch on my end. If you got it twice, I apologize. If you have not gotten yours yet please use the contact form to email me . There was an issue with some people not getting the message due to the way my email was set up at the time I sent the messages. I believe that I have corrected the problem. My appologies!

NOTE: I’m doing some housekeeping on the blog. I’ll be posting more about the changes that are happening and hopefully some better instructions on how to post, including how to post anonymously to keep the mystery going!

Round 2

April 5th, 2008 by goatlady |

I loved the first swap and am sure this one will be as wonderful. I made good friends and had a lot of fun.

I am supposed to be retired but live on a farm and have less time to knit than before I was retired. There are lots of critters to manage and I enjoy everyone of them. I live in TN but am originally a New Yorker. I have lived in many states and always said I wanted to retire in TN, so here I am.

Knitting keeps me sane and I love giving socks as gifts. I now have a huge gift list as everyone has begun to ask for more socks.

I look forward to getting my partners and getting to know them.

Hello!

April 5th, 2008 by springermama |

This is round two for me.  I live in Davidson, NC…home of the cinderella team of the NCAA!  I have three english springer spaniels who make life very interesting.  I also have a 23 year old son, who is at home at the moment and a husband who also makes life interesting!  I had a great deal of fun in the previous swap and had the opportunity to make a couple of good friends!  Looking forward to more fun…

Let Me Introduce Myself!!!!

April 5th, 2008 by kleewong |

This is my second Loopy Swap (so, obviously, I liked the first;). I live in central Texas (near Austin), but have lived all over the place. Since I discoved sock knitting in 2007, I have been knitting socks like crazy–they are such little architectural wonders! In another life, I was a German translator, but now teach sewing and quilting and sell sewing machines. I have two adult daughters and a rambuncious English Springer. I love to cook (in yet another life, I catered) and watch the waves in Kauai.

The best thing about the LAST Loopy Swap was meeting my swap partners! I had one that was as talkative as I and another that was quietly thoughtful. A delight!

Updateness

April 5th, 2008 by TheSheepGeek |

Just to keep everyone up to date, the pairings will go out Sunday night/Monday morning.

In the meantime, ya’ll should introduce yourselves. :)

Confirmations are sent!

March 31st, 2008 by TheSheepGeek |

Everyone should have a personal confirmation email - written by me from my email address. If you did not get one, PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP. Also, check your spam folder. Spam folders seem to like me.

I need to hear from your by Wednesday if you did not get an email, because there’s a chance your registration did not go through properly, or that I accidentally deleted you when I did the purge.

Partner assignments will be going out by the end of the week. I’m glad to have you all on board!

Registration is closed!

March 28th, 2008 by TheSheepGeek |

Registration is closed.

I am going to go through the registrants manually, and make sure that everyone is registered properly. You will be getting a personal email to confirm that everything is A-OK. If you don’t get one by Monday, please contact me. Assignments will be going shortly after that.

Sign-Ups for Round 2!

March 17th, 2008 by TheSheepGeek |

Sign-ups are now open. Below, you will find instructions and links to various Important Information.

The first bit of Important Information would be The Rules. They can be found on The Rules Page at the blog. Please read them before you sign-up.

The next bit of important information can be found at The Instructions Page. It tells you how to register, which will be explained below, as well as containing a few other bits of important information.

If you participated last round and will be continuing for round 2, please send me a PM on Ravelry or email me. My email address is: julia AT monkeyswithjetpacks DOT com. Obviously with an @ and a . in the appropriate places. I will be annoyed if I’m signed up for spam - you’ve been warned. Let me know that you’re profile is current and you are going to play again. I will email you back. If you do NOT get an email, assume your message was eaten by the internets and poke me again, using a different medium. Everyone who played last time do who does not email me will be removed from the blog at the close of sign-ups and will not get to play again until round 3.

If you have never participated in The Loopy Swap before, you will need to register for the blog. You can do this at the main blog page. Once you’ve registered, you need to fill out your Profile Page. This must be filled out before registration closes, or your account will be deleted and you will not included.

The date that partners will be sent out has not been determined. KnottyDaisy is the one who has figured out how that works, and, as my technical genius, gets to do it on her time schedule. It will be done near the end of March/beginning of April. I’ll have a firmer date for you later.

Also, the aforementioned tehcnical genius is also working on a tool to let you post anonymously. So you don’t have to have me do it for you. Everyone should tell KnottyDaisy how awesome she is. Because, without her, I wouldn’t have a blog, nifty tools, or, really, much of anything.

If you have any questions, please ask. :)

Loopy Swap - Round Two!

March 14th, 2008 by TheSheepGeek |

The next swap is starting in April! I will have heard back from UC Davis, should be slightly less crazy, and ready to knit away my sorrow or in my excitement, depending on how things go.

Some changes are being made this round, so I’ll be announcing them here, and on the blog.

Which brings me to the first thing - format. I’m going to be keeping the blog format, but will also be making all important announcements on Ravelry as well. I will also try to keep an active thread going here on Ravelry, for those that have difficulty with the blog. However, we need the blog for participants who don’t use or have access to Ravelry.

We will be doing a round robin format for this round. There are several advantages to pairing people up - however, since participation was spotty on the blog, I’d like to give everyone as many chances as possible to make friends.

We will be doing a theme - however, it will be a little less challenging than last time. Since we’re smack-dab in the middle of spring, we’re going for that. Spring is the theme. Everyone likes spring. And if you don’t, you can convey your hatred for the season in your lovely goodies.

Speaking of goodies. Everyone seemed to think that there wasn’t a real need for monetary limit, persay. However, there will be a suggested minimum value of $20.00, not including yarn. This doesn’t mean that if you don’t have the money to spend you can’t or shouldn’t play - lots of things have value that don’t cost money. And thoughtfulness is worth a lot as well. It just means you have to be clever. I do, however, want everyone to be aware that people are putting some fantastic goodies in these packages, so that no one feels guilty. Which, incidentally, no one felt cheated last round, so there shouldn’t be any guilt anyway.

Participation is going to be a big goal for this round. And, as such, I will be running a few very minor contests. One each month. If you post to the blog or the ravelry thread during that month, you get your name thrown in the random number generator hat. If you post a picture to the blog or the ravelry thread, you get your name thrown into another random number generator hat. Every month, one name gets pulled from each hat, and two people get something small and fun.

Which brings us to a new feature this go-round. I’m trying to figure out a way t let people post pictures anonymously. It may just mean emailing me with what you’d like to post and I’ll put it up for you. But if someone has a better idea, you should totally let me know.

There will be some new rules - mostly about regifting and what does, or does not, constitute flaking. I had some headaches early last swap that I don’t plan to have again.

The swap will be open ended again - one knit item made from yarn from TLE. Knitters choice, unless you partner has specific restrictions.

Finally, because there are no major holidays this go-round, the swap will be 10-weeks long: April, May, and half of June. For comparison, the last swap ran: November, December, January and half of February.

I will post instructions for sign-ups, including special instructions for those who participated last round, on Monday. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns - about anything here or anything I failed to mention - please go ahead and ask.

This, incidentally, is crossposted to the blog. :)
